F-Sidechain: Free Curve-Based Volume Shaper Plugin by Fazıl Irak
Developer Fazıl Irak has released F-Sidechain, a flexible free sidechain volume shaper plugin built for precise rhythmic ducking, envelope shaping, and transparent level automation. Available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats, it provides a fast alternative to routing traditional sidechain compressors. You can download the utility directly from the developer at no cost.
Precise Rhythmic Ducking and Curve Editing
F-Sidechain replaces conventional compressor-based ducking workflows by using an editable envelope grid synchronized to host tempo. Instead of routing an external kick drum track through a compressor input and calibrating threshold and release times, producers can draw exact gain-reduction curves directly within the interface.
Key features of F-Sidechain include:
- Customizable envelope nodes for shaping exact gain ramps and release curves.
- Host tempo synchronization supporting standard beat divisions, dotted notes, and triplets.
- Wet/dry mix slider for parallel envelope blending and subtle dynamic movement.
- Smooth curve interpolation designed to eliminate clicks and pops during rapid volume transitions.
- Low-latency architecture optimized for complex mix sessions with minimal CPU overhead.
Practical Mixing Workflow
The plugin is well suited for bass channels that need to yield headroom for heavy kick drums, modern EDM leads requiring rhythmic pumping, and vocal tracks that need subtle dynamic carving. Because F-Sidechain relies on time-locked cycling rather than transient-triggered compression, volume attenuation remains consistent regardless of incoming audio velocity.
F-Sidechain is completely free to download with no subscription fees or mandatory account tiers. The plugin operates as a 64-bit VST3 and AU audio effect across compatible DAWs on Windows and macOS systems.
